Southern California Kicks Off Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Programs

 

Southern California (June 2, 2016) Telefonix® Inc., a leading developer of cord reel technology and manufacturer of PowerPost® commercial electric vehicle charging stations (EVSEs), is a proud supporter of California’s Zero-Emission Vehicle program. Southern California utility companies are introducing rebate programs that will expand EVSE infrastructure, with the aim of speeding up overall adoption of electric vehicles.

 

Southern California Edison kicked off the "Charge Ready" program on May 27, 2016, which aims to install 1,500 qualified EV Charging Stations at locations where vehicles are parked for more than four hours. Locations for this program will include local government, employers, multi-unit dwellings, and disadvantaged communities. We are proud that within the program:

– The L1 PowerPostTM EVSE is the only qualified level 1 commercial charging station

– The PowerPost EVSE is the only qualified charger that does not require monthly network fees

San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E®) is excited about its new “Power your Drive,” that will install 3,500 EVSE across their service area at apartments, condos and businesses. At least 10% of charging stations will be installed in disadvantage communities to ensure the overall adoption of electric vehicles is available to all communities.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) updated its EV Charging rebate program, “Charge Up LA! Home, Work and On the Go,” allocating $21.5 million in rebates from March 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018.
