Waukegan - Illinois (Aug. 10, 2015) Telefonix® Inc., a leading developer of cord reel technology and manufacturer of PowerPost® commercial electric vehicle charging stations (EVSEs), announces the installation of 12 L2 PowerPost™ EV chargers at Tampa International Airport (TPA).
As part of Tampa International Airport’s “LEAF” program (Legacy of Environmental Actions for our Future), improvements and programs that are economically wise and environmentally and socially responsible are planned, executed and monitored. The installation of PowerPost electric vehicle charging stations is a natural fit toward the airport’s efforts in balancing the triple bottom line: People, Planet and Prosperity.
“We’re excited to add additional charging stations for electric vehicles and to emphasize the importance of alternative fuel vehicles,” said Al Illustrato, Tampa International Airport’s Vice President of Facilities and Administration. "The triple bottom line that considers people, the planet and prosperity is important to this airport. Our own sustainability program includes everything from new charging stations and natural gas vehicles to solar power, reclaimed water and recycled construction materials."
Airports are trailblazers in their efforts to build the infrastructure needed to support the growing electric vehicle (EV) driving community. Over the past decade, these facilities have turned their attention toward sustainability and ‘green’ efforts to reduce their impact on the environment and be good stewards of the communities they serve. This movement has propelled airports to be one of the leading industries to support the EV movement and install electric vehicle charging.
“EV sales have grown well over 100% from 2012 to 2014,” says Bill Williams, Head of PowerPost EVSE North American Sales. “This is a trend that shows no signs of slowing down.”
