Waukegan, Illinois (October 22, 2014) Konnectronix® Inc., a leading developer of cord reel technology and manufacturer of PowerPost® commercial electric vehicle charging stations (EVSEs), has completed a pledge to become a corporate partner with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Workplace Charging Challenge.
“By signing the Workplace Charging Challenge Pledge and developing a plan to further execute measures that encourage workplace charging, Konnectronix joins other corporate partners and ambassadors who support clean air driving. We look forward to working with the Department of Energy and their partners to meet goals of providing workplace charging for EVs,” said Bill Williams of Konnectronix.
The Workplace Charging Challenge is part of the Department of Energy’s effort to achieve a “tenfold increase in the number of U.S. employers offering EV workplace charging by 2018.” As part of the Workplace Charging Challenge corporate partners are required to compose a workplace EV charging plan, provide a quota for providing charging access for employee EV drivers and set a goal of meeting all EV employee driving demand.
Konnectronix currently provides EV charging for employees at their headquarters.
The Challenge also supports the EV Everywhere Grand Challenge that is linked to the Department of Energy’s goal to make EVs provide a cost effective alternative to petroleum based vehicles within the next ten years. PowerPost EVSE supports an easier transition to electric vehicles by providing affordable electric vehicle charging that can cost business less than a dollar a day to recuperate a workplace commute for employees.
